October 2025 (Live your life consecrated to God)

Bible passages: Romans 6:12-13, 1 Thessalonians

“Therefore, sin must not reign over your mortal bodies so that you obey their desires. And do not present the parts of your bodies to sin as weapons for wickedness, but present yourself to God as raised from the dead to life and parts of your bodies to God as weapons of righteousness. For sin is not to have any power over you, since you are not under the law but under grace.” (Romans 6:12-13)

“Prove all things, hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21-28)

Reflections:

As Jesus demonstrated, living a consecrated life is living a pure life. While Jesus is the only one to have lived a sinless life, we who come to Him and embrace His Cross can claim on His grace which will make us guiltless and spotless.

Being consecrated to the Lord means being set apart for His purpose and choose to live a holy life that honours and brings glory to God. Being consecrated to God means giving one’s life to Him, trusting His plans, and constantly seeking His will.

Pope Francis named three pillars that support a consecrated life; prayer, poverty and patience.

He spoke of prayer as “a return to God who called me”.

He described poverty as the wall that defends consecrated life from the spirit of worldliness and said that without poverty, there is no fruitfulness in consecrated life.

He described patience “as the attitude of every consecration, that goes from the little things of community life; from the little things, the little tolerance, and the little gestures of a smile.

Discussion Questions:

In what way do you live a consecrated life?

How much part of your life do you set aside for His purpose and plans?

In what ways do you seek God’s will for you?

Let us pray:

Father, I give myself and consecrate my person and my life, my actions, pains, sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being other than to honour, love and glorify you through the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This I ask in the most Holy name of Jesus who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.

Amen!
