Hearts That Give: KFCA QLD’s Annual Gift Drive Brings Joy Across Nations

With hearts full of generosity and joy, children and families gathered for the CFCA Kids for Christ (KFCA) Annual Gift Drive in Queensland, a much-loved tradition that brings together faith, fellowship, and service. This year’s event was held on 11 October at St Catherine’s in Wishart. This event aims to encourage children to share blessings by donating toiletries, tinned foods, toys, and stationery to three deserving organisations: Bravery Box (Australia), Your Kids My Kids (Philippines), and Micah Project (Australia).

From the moment families arrived, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and gratitude. Children eagerly registered at the welcome table, and joined fun icebreaker games designed to spark laughter and teamwork. The event, led by the YFCA service team, then transitioned into a heartfelt praise and worship session, where young voices sang joyfully, thanking God for the gift of community and the opportunity to serve others.

A short yet powerful talk followed, inspiring participants to see giving not just as a task but as an act of love. Children then sat quietly to write personalised encouragement cards for the gift recipients—notes filled with prayers, drawings, and kind words meant to uplift and remind others that they are seen, loved, and valued.

The joyful spirit continued into lunchtime, where everyone enjoyed a scrumptious meal shared in fellowship. Afterwards, the children carefully placed their gifts at the front of the room, forming a colourful display of generosity and hope. Each bag or box symbolised compassion and connection—reminders that small acts of kindness can ripple across communities and even nations.

The day concluded with a moment of reflection and a closing prayer of thanksgiving, acknowledging God’s faithfulness and the power of unity in service. The organisers extended heartfelt gratitude to all who made the event possible - KFCA coordinators, the YFCA service team, supportive parents, and generous members of the Couples for Christ Australia (CFCA) community who contributed financially. Their collective donations raised an incredible $1,000, which will go towards extending KFCA’s mission of love and outreach.

Through laughter, music, and heartfelt giving, this year’s Gift Drive reminded everyone - young and old alike - that faith in action transforms lives. KFCA continues to nurture compassionate, Christ-centred children who understand that the true spirit of Christmas and community lies in giving from the heart.
