YFCA: Good Friday Night Walk

Updated: Apr 2

By Celestine Salimbangon for YFCA NSW, 29 March 2024

10pm to 7am. 8hours, roughly 15km, and about 30,000 steps! This pilgrimage allowed us to reflect on Jesus' ultimate act of love and sacrifice, the true reason for the season. An incredible journey from start to finish, being able to visit 6 churches that gave us a glimpse of the Passion of Christ through captivating storytelling and heartwarming testimonies.

Despite the leg pain and broken kneecaps, it was a memorable time of our life indeed, definitely beyond worth it! It feels very empowering being able to walk alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ, pushing forward as children of God with the same fire in our hearts. Even now, 24hours since we began the trek, everything seems surreal.

I am so blessed to be a part of this community, eternally grateful to have witnessed the power of our God radiating through the young people who surround me constantly.

This is why I choose to serve and lead! These moments of grace drive me to say YES to God's call. I want to inspire and bring others towards Him, the future of the world.

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to send our thanks to Catholic Youth Parramatta, our fellow youth groups, all of the workers, volunteers, and marshalls for making this possible- uniting 1200 youths together and breathing much more life into our faith. Through you, God has made the impossible, possible. As always! You continue to be a massive inspiration to us all.

To those who weren't able to join us, you were kept in our prayers the whole time, and we hope you can be part of the amazing adventure next time!
