September 2025 (May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to His call!)

Updated: 2 days ago

Bible passages: Ephesians 1:15-23

“Therefore, I too, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your love for all the holy ones, do not cease giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of our glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him. May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call, what are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones, and  what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe, in accord with the exercise of his great might, which he worked in Christ, raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens, far above every principality, authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named not only in this age but also on the one to come.”

Reflections:

St Paul prays that the hearts of the Ephesians would experience the hope of everything God calls them to, to live rightly before Him in the abundant power He gives them to choose to obey Him. This prayer applies to us too.

We are invited to partake in the salvation of God and to belong to God’s family. We were people who had no hope because of our sins but our glorious God has given us hope through Jesus Christ. By His suffering and death we were cleansed from our sins and by His resurrection we were born into a new life; a life in communion with God and His Church.

Discussion Questions:

Do you live a life of hope or despair?

How to you face the challenges in life especially the serious ones; with hope or in desperation?

Are you an instrument of hope or desperation to others?

Let us pray:

Father, please give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation that I may know you more, love you more and serve you more. Teach me to always focus in you and trust you more every day.

Teach me to see you more nearly, follow you more nearly, love you more dearly and serve you more eagerly. We ask this in Jesus name,

Amen!
