June 2025 (Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly; singing to God with gratitude!)

Bible passages: Colossians 3:16-17

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Reflections:

Singing praise to God is largely associated with showing our gratitude to Him, rather than focusing on ourselves or our own desires. This is the main reason why we always start our HH meetings, teachings and assemblies with Praise and Worship. It is very important that we prepare ourselves not only physically and mentally but more so spiritually when we attend HH meetings, teachings and assemblies.

Similarly, we sing praises to God at Mass.

In his letter, St Paul reminds us that whatever we do, in words or in deeds, we need to do everything in the name of our Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Discussion Questions:

During our praise and worship and when we sing at Mass, do you really focus on Jesus or do you focus on your own needs and desires and allow your mind to wander?

How do you prepare yourself spiritually before you attend Mass, your HH meetings & our teachings and assemblies?

When you do good deeds, do you do it to give glory to God or for your own self gratification?

Let us pray!

Dear Father, let the word of your Son dwell in us richly, give us wisdom to teach and admonish each other and teach us to sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts. Teach us to be humble that whatever we do, in words or in deeds, we do everything in the name of your Son our Lord Jesus who lives and reign with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen!
